Before taking this medicine

- if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Ivenox is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
It is not known whether Ivenox passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
How should I take Ivenox?
Take Ivenox exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Ivenox is usually taken as a single dose. If you are taking Ivenox to treat an infection, your doctor may want you to take a second dose 3 to 12 weeks later. Follow your doctor's instructions.
If you are taking Ivenox to prevent reinfection with Onchocerca volvulus, you may need to take Ivenox once a year. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Take Ivenox with food.
Swallow the tablet whole. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet.
If you cannot swallow a tablet whole, you may crumble the tablet into a spoonful of applesauce to make swallowing easier. Swallow the mixture right away without chewing. Do not save the mixture for later use.
To be sure this medicine is helping your condition and is not causing harmful effects, your blood may need to be tested often. You may also need eye exams. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
Take Ivenox for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Ivenox will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse while taking Ivenox.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.
Keep the tablet in its blister pack until you are ready to take it. Open the package and peel back the foil from the tablet blister. Do not push a tablet through the foil or you may damage the tablet.
Using dry hands, remove the tablet and place it in your mouth. It will begin to dissolve right away.
Do not take the medication with food. Ivenox is best taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.
Swallow several times as the tablet dissolves. If desired, you may drink liquid to help swallow the dissolved tablet.
Rinse your mouth with water after taking the tablet, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse while taking Ivenox.
